Want to remove a 8 3/4 rear end and install a 8 1/4 rear end in a '68 Dart so I can run big bolt pattern wheels. -Will the old drive shaft fit? Or will I need longer or shorter? -Will the good brake assemblies (backing plates and all) swap to the 8 1/4? -What else might I need to know? Thanks, Bobby |

Why not just swap in a set of BBP axle shafts from Moser or Strange and keep the 'better' 8 3/4"? -D.Idiot |

You'll need a longer shaft. I'm pretty sure that brakes will swap over but can't be positive. I'm with DI on this one, for $200-300 you can get moser axles in any bolt pattern you want. Check out www.moserengineering.com Or better yet they can redrill your current axle for $50-70 if there is enough room. They can redo drums as well. |

you would need a longer shaft by 0.65". |

.065" is only about 5/8", if you have a slip yoke, I wouldn't think that small amount would hurt a thing, certainly not worth a trip to the driveshaft shop for. |
