I'm talking about the forward bushing which has an inner tube and outer sleeve. I'm trying to replace this bushing and it is really stuck. I've soaked it down with WD40 but the outer sleeve is frozen inside the leaf spring. And also how do you put the new one in? Should they be pressed in with an arbor press? BTW the leaf sping is off the car completely and I removed the large bolt and bracket of course.

Thanks

If you have a press, you should be able to press them in and out with a collar that just fits inside the spring eye.

The backyard mechanic way is to put a propane torch to the old bushing until it starts to burn and soften, then push it out with a piece of wood. I have done this and then replaced with polyurethane bushings, which do not need to be pressed in and stiffed up the rear of the car.

I used a drill and drilled the rubber until I could push the center metal piece out with my finger. Then I bent the outer shell with a metal chisel, and pounded it out. To put the poly bushing in, I used a flat faced body hammer and lightly tapped them in.
