I have a nothing special driver 64 Valiant that I would like to make look a little better. It has been repainted once, probably with lacquer. Is there anything I could do that would be cheap but would freshen it up? I have painted acrylic enamel in the past, but that is 20 years ago.

I your paint is just dull and faded, I would suggest the following. Wash the car really well. Use some coarse rubbing compand and hand rub the surface down. Wash it again. Then use a high qualty wax to polish it up again. This may take a saturday, but you just may be surprised with the results.
