Anybody have any recommendations in this area? Does the absence of a shoulder strap on the seatbelt limit your options for recent models of car seats? Are there infant seats made for use with lap belts only? Thanks, Tom P.S. Car is a '66 Dodge Dart. |

I put my boys in my Dart all the time. The seats for the younger kids (about 4 and younger) will strap in with a lap belt. My oldest has a new seat that is just a booster, and uses the lap belt, so that is a problem. Another thing is, the back seat belts buckle in the middle, which ends up behind their back (ouch!). I wrap the buckles in a towel and they don't seem to be bothered. |

My family has two Graco seats, I've used the infant seat that has it's own straps in the middle position in the back seat in my car (it only needs a lap belt that won't retract to secure the seat. My son is now heavy and old enough that I can use a booster seat in the front passenger seat since it has shoulder belts (if anyone argues about it, ask a pickup truck driver where they put their kid in a booster seat...same location). You might look around and see if you can retrofit your car to a set of shoulder belts from a 1975-1976 mopar A-body...(have better buckles and retractors than the 1973-1974's). -D.Idiot |
