Original rim widths will vary depending on what was ordered when the car was new. IIRC 4.5 inches was standard, and optional widths were available up to seven inches. You rim width will be limited by the smaller front wheel well opening and the need to clear the suspension, and you will also have to select your backspacing carefully. I know that you can fit an 8 inch wide rim (15 inch diameter) so long as you get the correct backspacing. The guy you want to talk to is Dart270. he is the A-body handling guru and rally races a Dart 270.

Good luck!

"Widest tire on rim" info can be found on www.tirerack.com. Pick a size, and look under "specs".

i have a 74 swinger and run 15x7 cop wheels with 225/50r15 dunlops on them. fit real good as well as handle, but the rid is a bit harsher than something with a little more sidewall to it.
