Got the new IAS shocks on the front of the Dart last night. MAN, what a difference. They are 3 times the cost of NAPA, but worth every penny. EVERY penny. They are like magic. A silver bullet. They make the car feel like a more modern automobile. It rides much smoother, but handles much better at the same time. I thought that was impossible. The shimmy is gone from the front end. I cannot recommend them enough. I don't have them on the back, and may not put them there, as I am trying to stiffen the front to get rid of over steer. I think these, and bigger wheels, and tires are the most bang for the buck for handling for an older car.

I should be putting mine on tonight, if my brother-in-law is finished borrowing my jack stands. I'll be putting them on the front first, but I also have a set for the rear. I'm going to put them on the rear because my Dart has a tendency to "jackhammer" over bumpy turns. I'm glad to hear they are working well for you.

Glad to hear the fronts worked out so well! I need to try some of these.

Putting these shocks on the rear will not increase roll stiffness much, but the damping characteristics will be better. In the near term, I'd pull the rear sway bar and put on the IAS shocks in the rear.

Maybe I will do that. I like the way the rear bar makes it track down the highway. It has a stronger center pull with the rear bar. It doesn;t take long to take it off and see though. I will order a set of rears as well, eventually.Got to get those disk brakes on first though.

I installed the IAS shocks on the front tonight, and I was immediately impressed with the improvement in ride quality. Even steering effort seems to be reduced (I don't know how, but it is)...I don't seem to be fighting with the car around sharp turns now. And it's eating up the bumps...gotta drive it over some bumpier roads now. I'll try to get the rear shocks installed ASAP, too, and I can let you know how it goes.

In my opinion, the shocks are worth the money (so far).

Last time I paid attention, the KYB Gas-a-Just shocks were the hot ticket. Anyone tried both the KYBs and the new Edelbrocks?

No, I've never tried the KYBs, so I can't really compare to anything but crappy Gabriel "heavy duty" gas shocks. I did install the IAS shocks on the rear the other day, so now I'm running the IAS shocks front and rear. The ride if much improved over manhole covers, truck ruts at intersections, speedbumps, etc. and over the bumpy Pennsylvania highways.

Just FYI, I'm running .92" torsion bars and 6 leaf rear springs with no swaybar front or back, and 7x14" wheels with 205 70 14 tires.

Good info. I'll definitely look into these when the '62 next needs shocks.

I have been running the KYBs on all 3 Abodys I have and they work quite well up to 0.920" diameter Tbars. I am fixin' to try a set of IAS shocks in the next 6 mo or so and I'll let everyone know the comparison.

this is very interseting news as i am shortly going to be in the market for new shocks on my dart. id imagine the AIS shocks can only make it better. lou, how soon you going to try your set up? i have the .920 bars now and front and rear bars on my car. thing handles like its on rails. let us know also lou--would you?
