Post subject:  my /6 won't idle in gear
hey everybody, im new to the forums
i own 72 scamp with the /6
it will idle in neutral but when i put it in gear she wants to go dead
i dont know what to do
please help

Some more information would be helpful. Does it behave this way only when cold, only when hot, all the time or at random? In general, problems like this are the result of one or more of the following problems:
  • Idle mixture set too lean
    Idle speed set too slow
    Improper ignition timing
    Improper choke thermostat and/or choke pull-off adjustment
It is also possible for there to be a more serious problem, e.g. in the torque converter, but this is rare.[/list]

Check the valvle lash too... sometimes when they're too tight (and with the consequent increase of roughness at idle) mine would like to stall too.
