After waiting two weeks for the rebuilt Carter BBS for my 65 Valiant 225, it arrived and I found that the throttle linkage hookup is different. The bracket where the throttle rod sticks through (has the plastic spacer on it) is missing. Have any of you used a dremel to remove the original bracket and put it on a rebuilt carb and if so, how did you do it? Very frustrating. |

It sounds like you got a later "cable linkage" BBS. One easy thing to check is to swap the base on the carb. Many have all the same holes and use the same gasket, only the linkage is different. DD ![]() |

Duh....why didn't I think of that? I hestitated at first to switch everything but the the carb base thinking the throttle shaft is sometimes what needs replacing. Anyway, it took all of about ten minutes to make the swap. I would like to fire up the car, but the dash won't be in place until tomorrow. |

Well, dash cluster went in the car, and on the second crank, new carb fired the car fine. No leaks, etc. Idles nice. May have to richen it a bit. |
