Post subject:  Manifold to header pipe problem solved (hopefully)!

I've been having the same problem as a lot of you with burning out exhaust manifold to header pipe gaskets.

Since I went from the stock exhaust to two and a quarter with the super six, it's entirely possible that the guys at the muffler shop didn't get the flange welded at the correct angle.

And since that shop has closed down now, and since I don't want to spend any more $, I cut the header pipe, and took about a half inch off the end after cutting it. Then I bolted down the flange for the twentieth time, lots of the red goop and stage 8 fasteners. Then I used a six inch piece of flexible exhaust pipe to hook the pipes back together. There's not much space between the two pipes, I just used a lot of flexible pipe because I figured overlap wouldn't hurt. I've got it clamped down at both ends and so far so good.

Hopefully the flexible pipe will flex before strain is put on the flange-to-exhaust connection.

Keepin my fingers crossed,

Joe
