64 nose on 66 dart?

Has anyone put a 64 dart nose(or a 64 valiant nose) on a 66 Dart?

Close... Here's my '66 V100 Valiant ("Project V") with a '63-64 Dart hood and '65 Dart fenders/valance.

My belief is that all '63-66 Abodies have interchangeable front clips, at least as complete units. The Darts have elongated wheel wells, and seem to allow bigger tires with little or no trimming (at least up to 245/45-17s).

Yes, that's correct: All '63-'66 A-body vehicles worldwide have front clips that interchange as assemblies. '63 Dart front clip on '66 Valiant, '66 Dart front clip on '64 Valiant, '65 Barracuda nose on '65 Dart, you name it, it'll work. The body lines all match up, too, so no issue there. There have been some very interesting hybrids over the years...Doug's put together a few Dacudas, there've been some nice-looking ValCudas, and Chrysler used Valiant front clips on Dart bodies for the Canadian market in '63 and '64.

I believe the same thing was possible with later Darts/Valiants/Dusters. For example I had a 73 Scamp, which suspiciously looked like a 70 -72 Dart body with a Valiant front end. Am contemplating adding a 65 Barracuda grille assembly to my 65 Valiant convert. The factory should have made an early Barracuda convert to compete with the Rustang.

'67 to '72 front clips swap onto '67-'72 bodies, but things get a little more complicated starting in '73 in North America, due to the differences in front bumper mounting caused by the US Federal (and Canadian) requirement for 5-mph bumpers. '73-'76 front clips swap onto '73-'76 bodies without a problem.

The '64-'65 Barracuda grill will fit a '64 or '65 Valiant (as will the Barracuda front valence without cutouts for the park/turn lamps, which on the Barracuda were up in the grill). I agree the Barracuda grill is a lot nicer than the Valiant item.

I have a Barracuda grille that I never swapped into my car. The reason being the pot metal centre section is so cheap looking. After 40 years the Valaint grille still looks pretty good while the cuda is pitted. No wonder so many get painted. I do like the idea of the cuda turn signal location. I have even considered putting the cuda turn signals on the Valaint grille.

Couldn't the Valiant's original turn signals still be used and when using the Barracuda grille, convert it's turn signals into maybe fog or driving lights?

Sure. If I were to do this, I'd skip right over the junk available at the parts store, JC Whitney, etc. and put in a set of Bosch Compact 100 fog or driving lamps. They're 4" round, the mounting stud can point to 12:00, 3:00, 6:00 or 9:00 position, and they're very strong performers. Of course, auxiliary lamps must be wired up correctly. Driving lamps are auxiliary high beams, never safe or legal to use in traffic or with low beams; fog lamps must be wired to be usable with parking lamps or with parkers plus low beams, but not with high beams.

And of course, it's not enough just to mount 'em, you have to mount 'em so they can be properly aimed.

Well i've found a 64 valiant nose, most of the parts anyway. So I may be building a Darval or a Valdart. I just don't like my 66 dart grill.

I always liked the the look of a 64 Dart front clip on a 66 B'cuda.
