Post subject:  73 Dart Came Out on Top!

Turned the 17 year old Grandson loose with the 73 Dart 4-door about two weeks ago, and as luck would have it, he had a minor accident. He was turning into a driveway and another vehicle driven by a young lady his same age, ran into the passenger rear of his car striking about at the point where the marker light is. It was a glancing blow and really didn't do much damage to the Dart. Photos and witness testimony pointed to the girl attempting to "scare" the grandson, and at the same time, show off for her friends.

The body shop guy who is going to paint the car in January, said the damage can be fixed for about $250 plus the marker light. Damage to the other vehicle: late model Honda sedan $1400! Makes me want to sell every other vehicle I own, including the wife's ricer.

Of course I was initially very upset, but at the same time very thankful that nobody was injured. Cars can and will be repaired.

My wife reminded me of the fender benders I had while growing up too!

I can't wait until the Grandson comes over this morning and opens his Christmas gifts...of course everything is for the car: Tire gauge, box of tools, new carpet for the car, new seat covers for the car, floor jack (don't trust those bumper jacks), etc.

He is sort of bummed out because our agreement was that one accident and the car is sold. Wasn't his fault, it appears, so I let him think that the reason he can't drive the car right now is that the insurance company asked me to keep it in the driveway until they can get a better look at it.
