I was going to sell my Barracuda last Summer but now I've decided to keep it long enough to make it steer right (Might help me sell it too). It never has felt as good as my old V100 wagon with regard to steering and straight line stability. Last time I had it aligned I was told it was right on the caster limit with no more adjustment left. So, has anybody installed the Moog Problem Solver bushings with good results? Please feel free to pass on any or all of your settings, toe, camber and caster that made your car feel good on the street. BTW, I'm running '74 upper arms with front disc brakes, standard V-8 T-bars, Formula S front swaybar and 205/60-15 tires. Thanks! Guy |

Do you know what the caster "limit" was? I like to run 2-3 degrees of positive caster but many stock suspensions will not give you this much. The offset Moog bushings can help you get more caster or correct for negitive camber but to do this right, I have always had to get feedback from the alignment tech. first. Basically I tell them the alignment settings I want, they tell me "there is not enough adjustment", I ask them to show me where they need more travel (adjustment) and then install the off-set Moog bushing to allow for that. I have the offsets in all 3 of my A bods on '73-up UCAs. They work great and will allow at least 3 deg pos caster with 1 deg neg camber. I believe you could get around 5-6 deg pos caster, but I haven't asked for that. Once car has about 30k on the rebuilt front end with bushings, no troubles yet... Lou |

Thanks Lou, that's what I was hoping to hear. Does your car track better than it did before on the highway without having to make constant steering corrections?Lou Guy |

I never really noticed problems with constant steering corrections, but yes, they are more stable at highway speeds with more caster. Even 1 deg positive caster makes a difference. Lou |

The only downside I have found to a lot of positive caster is that steering effort increases as caster increases. Sure, the car's steering will "follow the road" and return to center much better but it is harder to crank the wheels around in a parking lot. If you have a fast ratio steering box and wide / sticky tires then don't get carried away with positive caster. DD |

Thanks Lou and Doug. I think a baseline alignment to see where I'm at now is in order. Then I'll go from there on the offsets if needed. Trouble is finding a good alignment shop that even knows what are cars are anymore. |

Somewhere I saw a post for tubular UCA's and I believe the design included more caster. Kinda pricey I thought. 300 bucks for both. Someone may have the link. |

Many companies make them. Stay away from Magnum Force. Everyone seems to like the www.bigblockdart.com units (Bill Reilly), and www.firmfeel.com. Lou |
