First, I'm looking into replacing the rusted out floor in my Duster. I don't have access to a welder and I don't want to pay $90 apiece for new floor pans. I'd like to be able to rivet sheet metal in. Have anybody done this? Does it work well? Any pictures? Is the car still structurally sound?

And on replacing rear quarters. How is this done? I don't see how a quarter panel could be replaced unnoticeably. Any pictures? Thanks

The previous owner of my Valiant riveted sheet metal patches on the front floorpans. All I can say is do it right and replace the floors with real repair panels. I think you will be much happier.

Dusterdude.....the floor and "frame rails" are an integral part of the chassis on a Duster. It's highly advised that you weld-in, or have it welded in. While the stamped replacement floor pans would be the ideal parts to use, one could probably form sheet steel to reasonable resemblance of the pans. Do weld them in though, and while your at it, put in a pair of subframe ties, too.

How much of the floor will one replacement pan replace? How much will it cost on labor to have one welded in? The cheapest one I can find is $90. Can I find a cheaper floorpan?

What are subframe ties?
