I've noticed my 3 year old Autometer temp gauge has a popensity to to stick in the 190-200 degree range, mind you this only occures after full warmup and warm shutdown with restart , it has becomes necessary to intruduce a good thump on the guage housing to correct the reading.
It annoys me more then alarms me as my Dart runs 180 degrees all day, any options besides replacement?

This kind of sticking is frequently caused by nothing more complex than the needle physically rubbing on the gauge face! If you can get in there somehow and bend the needle slightly away from the gauge face, it may solve the problem.

What's the trouble with the factory gauge?

There is nothing wrong with the factory gauge, it works fine, all I have to do is reconnect it. luckily, the Autometer sits in a custom housing on top if the dash, so access to service the needle poses no problems..Thanks
