hello all!
i'm swapping a four speed into my 70 swinger and am trying to make it a stock installation. i'm wondering where the clutch switch passes through the firewall. i've flipped through all my old mopar mags from the past 15 years and read my factory service manual cover to cover and can't seem to find a good picture. there is a dimple in the firewall just below the right side of the voltage regulator, does this need to be drilled out? does someone have a similar car with a factory four speed they could send me a picture of?

I can't directly answer your question, but:

Clutch/Starter interlock switches have never been mandatory. Some cars got 'em, some cars didn't. I find them a real nuisance and bypass them on every manual-trans vehicle I drive. Sure, Mopars are reliable, but it's nice to have the option of being able to move a stalled car out of traffic using the starter and 1st or Reverse gear, or being able to push-start the car if a problem develops with the starting system, and you can't do either of those things with an interlock switch.

i know wha tyou mean about using the starter to move a car since i've done it many times when no one was around the shop to help push a customer's car, you should be able to push start one with the switch though since it disables the starter and not the ignition on our mopars. truth is, i just know a time will come when i'll forget to push the clutch in and wind up crashing my fiberglass nose into a wall!
