Using a truck 833OD and bellhousing, flywheel, etc in a 64 dart would fit ok, correct? its the big A-435 which is what I don't want, right? |

The truck tailshaft will be too long for an A-body. You can make it work, but it will take some surgery to the trans crossmember. ![]() |

hmmm... I thought they were the same.... Does anyone konw if the shifter location would at least be correct? Or would I have to fabricate a bracket? Or is the shifter completly different between cars/trucks? |

Post subject: | Want an early A body 4 speed?? |
I just got an A833 (non OD,though) that was pulled from a 65 Formula S Barracuda, last night. Its got the 4 bolt flange on it for the ball and trunnion style driveshaft. Nice thing about it is that you won't have to do any "modifications" to put the shifter where it needs to be. Are you anywhere near the Chicago area?? I may trade you for that truck 833, or there are a few other things that I could use for my Volare project that I'd trade this trans for, if you were lucky to have just laying around ( shot in the dark, I know.., but it don't hurt to ask!!!) A windshield, a Sure Grip for an 8-1/4 rear end, rear quarter window louvers, any of the Super Coupe or Kit Car spoilers, etc, (even the new repop ones, as I'm not trying to fool anyone with this as a clone), a blue or tan F body console, or ????? As for the truck trans, there is a guy on here that did swap that trans into a 68 Cuda, the shifter needs to go somewhere between the 2 mounts on that truck trans, so yes you'd have to fab up a shifter mount, as well as a driveshaft. And yes, you're right, you wouldn't want the NP435 to put in there. 1st gear would be basically useless to you. Might as well put a 3 speed in there instead. Had a 78 dually with a 360 and a NP 435, it worked great in there, especially towing a loaded car trailer! |

Volaredon. I am in Canada, so shipping would be way to much. And besides, I just bought an iron case 833 OD. The only thing I have that you want is the 8.25 sure grip, but it's going in my car, sorry! ![]() |
