Well I started this project December 2003 with a "free" car. 1974 Scamp Slant Six.

Tomorrow my son gets to drive it to school. Senior at CDO High School and really proud of his car. We spent countless hours and dollars (well my wife counted it, but that's a different story) rebuilding it from the ground up. Father and Son project you might say. And boy was it. Going to junk yards on weekends, searching the internet for information and parts, talking to folks at parts stores and just plain learning and looking at everything related to this little car. And of course this site.

After finally getting this car running reliably, with help from you folks, he gets to take it out and show it off.

So I will be posting pics pretty soon and I have enough for a whole scrap book.

I just want to thank everyone, Doc, Dan, Dennis, and countless others who took the time to help me and my son, well my family, on this journey. Not only can we fix any problem on this car, we can really appreciate something like a car that's over 30 years old.

This car is a real bute and when I can figure out how to post some more pics you will see what I mean.

Thank you again and again!!!

:D

I've been trying the same tactic with my wife convincing her the Lancer is a father/son project. The problem is, my son has to wait about 15 more years before he can drive! He's learning to bang screwdrivers and his favorite tools are hammers, but so far he's not helping all that much. Needless to say, my wife isn't really buying this "build the car for my son" line =)

But it does make me envious of you--by the time my son is old enough we'll be outta old cars!

MJ
