I have run two different slants in my dart, the original and a 72 block and both have problems with the rockers falling out of adjustment. after 8 or 10 thousand miles they start to chatter real bad and need to be tightened. Is this a common problem or do I have bad rockers. thanks. |

This is what happens when the arms and/or adjustor screws get old. The interference thread no longer "interferes" properly, and the screws grow loose and won't hold an adjustment. The "proper" fix is new arms and adjustor screws, but if you're after an "economy" fix, you can remove the adjustor screws and munge the threads by tapping them with a ball-peen hammer or squeezing them in the textured jaws of a vise. Don't overdo it; if you spoil the threads completely the screws will no longer go into the arms. It should be difficult to move the screws in the arms. |

Thanks for the response, is there somebody making new rockers and if so how do i find them and what can i expect to spend. I'm not sure I have the money to buy right now but I like getting all my ducks lined up for when I do. thanks. |

New rocker arms and adjustor screws are as close as your nearest NAPA or other source of Clevite engine parts. Clevite part number is 2142045 . Believe the arms ship complete with screws. Cost is about $10 apiece. |

I got a new rocker arm assy at rockerarmspecialist (listed in this site's home page as roller rocker arms, but actually they don't make roller rocker arm assy, they are stock) spent 80 something bux. great steel, won't fall of adjustement (I have now 1k miles plus on it and never went off my initial lashing) |
