in the latest mopar muscle? sounds like a pretty good alternative to searching for a 73-76 a-body. anyone have an opinion on swapping in these spindles or experience with them? |

The spindle argument has been raging forever. For every one who says it won't work I have seen 2 people who have done it without any problems. One of the brake companies that sells the disc conversions for A-bodies has used FMJ body spindles for years.

It seems that about every 5 years the mopar rags trot the "spindle issue" out and start calling each other fools and idiots. I remember reading the first such issue 20 years ago. The bottom line is, they work, people have used them, nobody has reported any problems. |

I've used F-body spindles for a year now. Just yesterday I was playing in a parking lot doing sharp turns at 40+MPH and had the rear tires squealling. Nothings broke or has given any complaints yet(and I do like playing fairly often). So far I've found no reason to buy the arguments against usings FM and J body spindles. Disclaimer: These parking lots were desserted, please don't try your supsension unless you find a big desserted parking lot where the only danger is you hurting yourself, and even then understand that some people will call you an idiot. |

Yep, it seems to ba an Erhenberg vs. Dulcic (sp) thing.

Dulcic has already been there. E-booger is supposedly on vacation.

im just a youngster at age 20, and never realized this was a realistic option for a disc brake swap. ask almost anyone and the only thing they say is find a 73-76 a-body with disc brakes. ive read a few posts on here about using the different spindles but most every disc brake swap question has the same answers and it is always to use the a-body disc brake spindles. im glad to hear that there is an option for the junkyard parts scrounger. |

I have aspen spindles on my 67 valiant, and I have had no problems. |

i took off the stock disk a-spindles to put the f-m-j spindles on for that ever so slight advantage bill rielley speaks of. drove the car 350 miles to carlisle and back with ZERO problems on the crap pennsylvania roads. works great and the car handles great too (of course it has other parts too). doing the swap like i did with no other changes---you wont feel the difference though. only a stopwatch would see the difference. i just happen to be there rebuilding the entire front end and had those laying around. and no, im not selling the stock a-spindles i took off. they are for the wifes 71 duster drum to disk conversion. |

I don't have an A-body anymore, but I would think that they would work. Rick Ehrenberg has done some great tech articles over the years, but he can be a little opinionated. |
