My new vibration damper mark is about 4 inches away from top dead center when manually cranked on my rebuild. The damper is new, from an engine rebuild shop. Were there different pulleys for 1963 Valiant that I am not aware of?

I appreciate your help/insight.

The later engines moved the TDC marker to the right side of the engine. You have the wrong dampner for your engine.

Kesteb's probably right. I like the '67-up location of the timing marks (on the right side) 'cause it makes it easier to check the timing and adjust it while watching the marks. You may want to keep the damper you have now, and get the '67-up timing cover and tab.

I am not sure of the positioning of the 1967-latertiming chain case cover. Right now the key guide on the crankshaft is at a 12 0'clock position...the same as the timing mark on the damper. Not to the side as I would imagine on the 67. I agree that my damper is incorrect. I'll see what the engine shop says tomorrow. Thanks
