Post subject:  Super Six Intake Manifold Repair?

Okay, I finally found a Super Six intake and exhaust manifold. However, during shipping on the intake manifold the mounting hole ear between the #3 and #4 intake runners (bump in the middle) partially broke off. So my question is, since there is 1/4 of an inch of "nut to intake" surface still attached to the intake, do I use it as is and not worry about it or should I have the machine shop fix it before they resurface the two manifolds?

Also, should the manifolds be separated and resurfaced individually before the machining and de-burring process or should they be left together to be milled flat at the same time? I'm thinking to leave them together untill after they are machined so they will both fit together perfectly on the head but I am not a mechanical Einstein. What should I be doing?

i would say if they can fix it for relatively cheap then do it. if the two manifolds are together and not leaking between them, do not separate them. have them machined together. -Randy

If you have the piece that broke-off, glue it back on just to hold it in place, then use a large flat washer over that area.
As for the surfacing, do the manifolds as a set.

Unfortunately I don't have the piece (thanks a lot UPS!). So I guess I'll have to see if they can fix it at the machine shop or just use a big flat washer like DD suggested. Thanks guys for the advice on keeping the manifolds assembled for machining. Thats what I'll do.
