Maybe I'm just not stout enough. I can't get the pickup tube to unscrew. Guess I'll have to get a pipe wrench? Any other ideas. Would heat help - I have a small propane torch, but would rather not use that. Any other ideas? We're getting close. But close only counts in horse shoes and hand grenades.

Thanks,

dave

Yes, carefully use a pipe wrench, help it along a little by grabbing the pickup end and applying torque there, too. As stated earlier, you dont want to crack or otherwise distort the pipe, but even if that should happen, new ones are pretty cheap...

Thanks, again, D/W. I tried a strap wrench, but couldn't get it to stay on long enough to apply any torque. Tomorrow night is another day, er, night.

Thanks again.

Maybe someone used loctite on it?
Try some heat!

I wondered about loktite, too. I can't see anything on the exposed threads, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. I'm sure it is the factory pickup tube, though. Did the factory use loktite? Don't know. I do have one of those little propane torches that I can use if I need to, though. Thanks for the suggestion and thought.

Use a small pipe wrench. I had to use one on the pickup in my engine.
