I need a line on a supplier for my 63 Valiant, single pulley alternator. I'm in Sacramento, CA.

Thanks

Don't replace -- rebuild. Get in the yellow pages and you'll doubtless find lots of local auto electrical rebuilding houses. Take them your alternator and they will be able to completely refurbish it.

If you insist on replacing it, be advised that the "remanufactured" units from parts stores tend to have very spotty reliability. That said, if you're bound and determined to ride the "Lifetime Warranty that means you spend your lifetime replacing parts under warranty" train at the parts store, and they can't find your '63 Valiant in their system, get an alternator for a '76 Dart. It will have two ΒΌ" terminals on the back instead of just one. Run one (either) of the two terminals to ground via a new wire, and the alternator will fit and work fine.
