how much can you have a stock converter "loosened" up? how much does a new torque converter cost and what are the sources for higher stall converters for a slant?

will a comp cams 264 need a higher stall than factory? i know ive read on here that it does but many people ive talked to think the stock would work fine. my car will be daily driven but i dont wanna be disapointed with the 252.

Stock will work fine, but you won't realize the motor's full potential by keeping the "launch" RPMs low.

so ill be fine on my driveability, but if i wanna get it to running a little better in the quarter ill have to run a higher stall eventually? so it will work fine but ill still have some performance potential left?

this is something i wouldnt have with a 252, correct? it would be basically topped out on a mild street built slant?

Yep.

No, I don't think it would be topped out at all. I chose the 264 Comp cam because my Duster has air, it is a very smooth cam, actually, and I wish I had gone with a more aggressive cam, in retrospect. I don't think the converter would be much of an issue with the 252, but I can tell you definitely, from experience, that driveability with the 264 and stock converter will be fine. I ran the stock converter for awhile with the 264.
