| Post subject: | Slant 6 w/A727 Trans Adapter Questions........ |
Hey, I've got a factory installed slant 6 w/ A727 transmission (factory adapters) I'm getting ready to pull things apart and "was" hoping to pre-order the parts I need to replace my broken flexplate, and replacing the converter for something looser. The problem I'm having is with this small pilot hole/large pilot hole issue on the salnt 6...and cataloges showing converters for A727's that fit "67-81" models. Everything I've read shows a 67 slant has the small pilot. But I have the factory adapters to fit the A727. With catalogs showing converters fitting 67-81 727's, would I be safe in assuming that the adapter has the large pilot hole to fit the 727 flexplate and converter hub? What years did small block cranks have small pilot holes/large pilot holes. Pulling it apart will answer my questions, but was hoping for some insight beforehand....... Thanks! |

I believe the change was 67-68. |

you can also get true /6(no adapter) 727's from 80's vans with the /6. |

Many "fleet" vehicles (police/taxi) had slant six 727 transmissions, also. But they will not fit engines with the 67 older, small pilot crank, without a custom convertor. |
