Post subject:  HEI Mounting?

Ok I finally got all my parts assembled for the electronic ignition conversion. I was wondering where people have mounted the HEI control module. I just have a piece of aluminum that I was going to screw to the RS Fender someplace so its near the coil and distributor. Is that a poor location due to water penetration vs. perhaps the firewall? Anyone have a picture of where they mounted theirs?

Also any tricks for distributor R&R?

Thanks in advance!

As long as the ECU has a good ground, you can mount it any place you like.

The ECU is reasonably weather resistant.

My Aspen has it mounted on the fender, my truck is now on the fender.

My truck has holes on the firewall for a the old factory location for an ECU (it's origionally a lean burn) I would have mounted the ECU in the factory location, but the wires wouldn't reach.

Pic a spot that looks pretty.

Ah shucks...whereever looks pretty! :D

I have tons of wire so I can mount it anywhere. I'll look tonight and post back the decision.

I would not worry, as long as water dont stay in the same spot.

mine is mounted on top of the inner fender. mine is flat and well protected up there. I need to go out and get a bunch of pics from under my hood again. I lost all of them a couple months ago.
GM HEI arent mounted on their firewall they are under the distributer cap

I completely missed the fact that we were talking about a GM HEI

I swear it said ECU the first time I looked at it.
