| Post subject: | Clifford Headers, Shorties or Long Tubes??? |
i ve got a chance to get 2 sets of clifford headers. one is a long tube set with the part number 55-0144. the other is the street rod style headers. these will be going on my 73 dart with an automatic. will the long tubes hang low and cause clearance problems on my street driven car? ive done some searches and found various posts, but which do yall think would be better on my car? ive already bought the long tubes but im thinking of buying the shorties too in case there is fitment issues with the others. ill probably end up selling the other set that i dont use. any advice from guys with these headers? thanks guys, ive got to get back with this guy soon so any help is appreciated. |

You will need the shorties. the street rod style will be to long. I am running shorties and they fit quite nicely. |

Yeah, I've got the long 'uns... A couple things. I have no idea what part #, I got them second hand, but they were like new. They have been on the Duster since around '91 If I had to start from scratch, I'd probably go with the shorties, I think they'd fit better and wouldn't drag on speedbumps and such... but then I couldn't have as much fun uncapping them at the track, either! Hope this helps, D/W |

anyone else wanna chime in here. they are supposed to fit my car but i dont wanna end up having to tweak them and rework my kickdown to make em fit. i have a super six like dennis as well. the guy says i can get either set. i definitely dont want the long tubes if they hang low enough that they drag on speed bumps. anyone else have an opinion? i think ive read everything on here about these headers but i wanna double check with you guys. |

I picked mine up second had also. I got them from a guy at carlisle 2 years ago, he said they were on his Volare'. I had to bend the trans cooler lines slightly and the shift linkage as well. they made slight contact with my power steering box when the engine would run rough( they havent hit in a while I think they made their own clearance) thats all. |

73dart_swinger, some mild tweaking is required with just about all headers, in my experience. D/W |
