I made up another one I will list in parts for sale.

Good job! What's the flange to flange measurement? (or at least, how much wider is it than the original rear?)

It's 56 1/2" flange to flange, so it's a little narrower than stock.

Great job! How much did it cost for this swap compared to using an 8.75? (I know that the cost of an 8.75 is a relative thing) :D

Well for me it was a lot cheaper to go with the 8.8. After piecing together a a-body 8 3/4 with decent gears and a sure-grip I had way to much money in it.
I'll sell the other one I made up at cost, plus shipping, because my car is far from being ready to go.
It's a 3.73 posi, 10" brakes, 4 1/2" BP, 31 spline axles.

hmmm... there was a '69 Dart with a 360 for sale that had a
Dana 44 in it. I think the 44 is an 8.5" . That might also be
a low cost swap option.

Didn't I read somewhere that Jeep Cherokees were an option. Disc brakes if you grab the right year.

The 8.8 is a lot stronger than the dana 44, 35 or Jeep corporate axle. These 8.8s are a popular upgrade in the Jeep.

Explorer rears are 59.5 F to F <---- EDITED I fat fingered the width.

Early 4x4 Ranger 8.8's are 56.5 f to F , but have the diff slightly off center

4x4 Rangers I believe came with the 31 spline axles and the 2wd'ers got the 28's. All Explorers hace 31 spline axles.
