Got a leak on the passenger side of my '74 Scamp. I took the plastic vertical molding/cover off and it's drippng off the metal on the vertical post up pretty high. I was thinking it might be the window but I cannot tell. I am also thinking it might be the rain gutter. Has anyone seen a leaky rain gutter on these cars? Also what should I seal it with? I could run a skin coat of clear RTV silicone with my finger along the gutter. Does this seem reasonable?

There is a weld where the A-pillar is attached to the roof and it often becomes a leak if there is the slightest pinhole in it. Unfortunately, it's usually under the rubber seal and difficult to reach. It's also usually rusty at the point of the leak and sealant won't stick to loose rust. On some cars, I have pushed the rubber back, brushed some of the loose debris away and filled with sealer, but consider that a temporary fix.
