Post subject:  Almost finished with the long rod /6 build *PICS*

Got quite a bit buttoned up on the 225 today. Been doing lots of detail painting of the parts. Here's a couple pics. The valve cover and air cleaner are going to be black wrinkle finish, and i've got the 2bbl intake and exhaust in primer right now. the exhaust will be flat grey, just not sure on what color for the intake, i'd like to go with the chrysler orange like the rest of th engine, but not sure if the enamel will hold up to the heat being right next to the exhaust. Any ideas? Still gotta find a driver side engine mount too, but that shouldn't be very hard. Hopefully i'll have the rest of it put together by the end of this week.

This last one is just one I took while i was messing around with the camera. it's the '66 satellite, '72 cutlass supreme, '69 impala, and '70 dart swinger.

If you're using a good brand of engine enamel, it'll be just fine on the intake, even right next to the exhaust.

the paint on my intake has held up fine. its just plain old engine paint, dont remember the brand though.

Looks great! I have those same plug wires also. And while I'm thinking about it, your engine stand reminds of this one time I tried putting my block on an engine stand similar to yours and I snapped the left side hole that you're apparently being able to use, I welded it back on with no apparent problems though.

Hey Cream, good job. I am not experienced in the field and I notice a different setup in the place for the oil filter... is that setup for a remote filter...?, if so, how can I install one on mine?. Also I notice the oil sump... is that oversize and what for?

just went down to the local parts house, and asked for a remote filter kit for a /6, and they gave me one from a company called transdapt, it's part # 1113. here's there site http://www.tdperformance.com/TransDapt.html
as soon as i bolted on the oil pump and saw how the filter would be, i knew immediatly that i had to change that. ALso, i think mopar use the same filter all the way up to big block, because my 361, has this same remote kit. the kit comes with the piece you see bolted onto the engine right now, and also another piece that you can bolt wherever you want to locate the filter, and 2 hoses to connect the 2. A lot of people have told me they are nothing bot problems because of leaking, but i've been running one on my big block car for awhile now with no problems. As for the oil sump, that's stock, maybe the picture angle justmakes it look bigger.but if you want more oil capacity, that same company sells a dual filter kit, then you would have an extra quart of oil in the system.
