I am ready to do the interior in my 64 sig 200 vert. I have the seats with the heat embossed inserts and silver piping, etc.

Original Auto Interiors out of Columbus, MI say they have original seat skins from some warehouse they bought out. Has anyone ever used these? I'd like to have the stock look in the sig 200 vert. Any comments or suggestions about this organization or thier product would be greatly appreciated.

I'm also looking for the seat buns for the front buckets. I know that Layson's has them but is there anywhere else that might have the better quality stuff more economically priced or should I just bite the bullet and order from Layson's? Where else have you guys ordered A body signet type seat buns from?

Thanks in advance.

I found the Gary Goers foam for the front buckets in our 63 dart GT
was a perfect fit and of excellent quality. He does the bucket foam
for all the 300s also - There is a very good chance he has what you
need for your 200.

I bought some original fabric from Original Auto Interiors for my 63 Valiant. It was really nice stuff. I don't know about the skins. From what I could tell, they had a bunch of NOS interior materials. If they would have had skins for my car, I would have bought those instead of just the fabric.

Ask them if they are original skins from the factory or if they have made them from their NOS material.

I bought the fabric from them in two separate purchases. The first was the cloth insert fabric. I sat on that until I had the body work done (about 2 years). When I went to have the seats done and needed the vinyl, they were reluctant to sell it because they might need it to make covers with it and were running low. I was able to talk the sales person into letting go of it. The cool thing was that they didn’t raise the price from the original quote they had given me 2 years earlier.

I can also vouch for Gary Goers. He takes forever to ship (parts are made to order) but they are worth the price.

John

Yes, Original auto interiors say these are original unused skins for my sig 200. I think this is the way I am going to go. I just wanted someone like yourself who has ordered from them to tell me they had a decent experience.

I'll check out Goer.

Thanks.

I just got my catalog from Legendary. It doesn't appear that they have the original Signet 200 type interior for 64. 2 types of vinyl, silver piping and silver stripes sewn in. Plus, hte rear seat has some sort of heat stamped emblem. I do like the fact that they have new door panels. I have to get my old ones out to see if the styles match up.

Another question. Does anyone know if the rear seat of the vert is smaller than the rear seat in the coupe? When I order the covers, I want to make sure that the rear will fit and not be too big if the rear seats are different sizes.

I'll throw this one in here also. I really want to paint the convert top frame but I'm not sure how to go about it. My first thought was to take the whole thing out of the car and have it painted, then reinstall it. But the more I think about it, the more I'd really like to leave it in the car and just have it painted when the car gets sprayed. The top frame is white and the car is white so realistically it seems that I could just have it painted at the same time. I figure that I could have it painted in the closed position so that when it is closed it looks good to the eye from inside the vehicle. What do you guys think about this process? Any hints from those who have done it?

Thanks.

James.

I'm not sure about painting the top but if you are painting the car, I would wait to install your seats. Painting is messy/dusty business. I did a total repaint of my valiant and my seat were filthy by the time I was done. Of course they were in pretty bad shape to begin with and I wasn’t too careful with them. I did the upholstery last. It would be too bad to puncture one of your new skins while taking apart or assembling the car.

I would ask your painter how he would prefer to do the top frame. Also think about if you want parts painted that won't be able to be reached with a spray gun, or polished and buffed once the paint is on.

I will not be doing any interior work until the car is painted, i.e., the last thing I'm going to do. Right now, I'm just starting to collect the interior, carpet, vert top, interior, seat cushins, well liner, top boot so that the I don't have the real large one time out lay.

I ordered the interior and I'll let you guys know my experience and how I think it stacks up to the original Signet 200 style when I get it
