Hello all,

Got the engine lifted via the manifolds at the moment trying to get it up on the stand. I was caught with only 3" and 3.5" 3/8" bolts and saw they screw in, but left a lot out. What would work well? 1.5" anyone know off the top of their noggins?

Offhand, I would say measure how much is left over with your 3" bolt and get one that much shorter. You don't have too many more standard choices (1.5", 2", or 2.5"). :wink:

Yeah it was sad..i took a guess, which was a little long (1.5") went and screwed into the rear one fine. Went to the front one...and just my luck--its not 3/8" Its smaller. Go figure. Ah the joys ;-)

from an engineering standpoint, there is no increased strength in a bolted assembly if the bolt penetrates any deeper than its width. As long as the bolt has 3/8" of thread penetration you will be fine. the tighter you can get the bracket to the head the better, because the more the bolt protrudes loose above the cavity, the more potential for sideloading (snapping it off from pulling sideways).
