Post subject:  Help! Valiant Pacer VF Engine Colour

:?:
Hi everyone,
I was told that you guys had a wealth of experience and knowledge that may lead to me being able to find out the formula for my original engine colour. It is for my Cosmic Blue 1969 VF Valiant Pacer and the colour I have been told for the engine is code: 13812 and is a bluey/green colour.

Can any of you confirm that this is right code for my car and more importantly do any of you have a reference sheet or formula for that colour so that I can have it made up? Do any of you know where you can get this colour even?

I believe VHT do a decent copy but really want to have the original colour. Thanks so much! If any of you need a reference photo then I can send one through. Cheers, Schaps :)

Proceed carefully. Australian engine colours diverged from US practice, and very little documentation was ever produced on the specifics of the engine variant used in the VF Pacer. (the technicolour engine bays of the VG-VH pacers are a different story...like, wow, man!). Starting in '67 (VE), the 2bbl 225s got a green colour a little darker than that found on Fuji film boxes (John Deere green is a fairly close match), but I'm not sure that same colour was used on the Pacer engine, which may well have been more of a blue colour.

Do you think that might be the same as our Chrysler turquoise engine paint, mate? It was used here on big blocks from the early sixties up until '69. If so, you can get it from Mopar Performance, but it is pricey.

Dennis, you beat me to it; I was just about to edit my message to mention the Big Block turquoise colour, which may well be a close or exact match for the VF Pacer engine.

Be nice if the MP paint were of decent quality...

I was real happy with the quality of the last batch I got for my '69 383 as we covered ad nauseum in that thread a few months back. They must have gone with a new supplier, it covered well and looks good.

P. S. - We posted at about the same time. You beat me to it.

Is Mopar Performance the only source for the paint? Is there any other manufacturer that can help? Does anyone have the formula so that it can be mixed here in Australia?

thanks,
Eyman
