Post subject: | Water heated Clifford? |
Hey guys and gals, Quick question. The Clifford 4 bbl on my 225 in my Demon was on the car when I purchased it so I really have no idea of what model or what. I remember reading that to get rid of bog off idle, that these should be water heated. Someone posted that they heated their Clifford manifold. Are all Clifford 4 bbl manifolds capable of this? My manifold has a threaded plug near the base of the carb, I assume that is what it is for. Where should I look for the outlet? Any idears? Thanks, Jesse |

That plug is just a vacuum port plug. If yours is water heated, it will have two plugs (1/2" NPT I believe) roughly in line with the 2 and 5 cyl runners, and a jacket below the main manfold plenum. You do not strictly need water heat, although you can get a plate that bolts below your carb to circulate water (Frank Raso on this site sells this as well as Clifford??) If your choke, timing, and carb jets/accel pump are set up right (not often true on a stock engine), then you should have no bog. Lou |
