O.k., So my temp gauge doesn't read but fuel gauge is d.o.b. accurate and voltmeter works. When a ground wire is connected from the sending unit to the negative battery cable the gauge sweeps. I've replaced the sending unit and the gauge, no dice. A test light gives a 2 per second pulse at the gauge. I haven't hooked up a volt meter yet to check on voltage but I will. Anybody have any idea what the heck is going on? The panel is from a 65 Dart. Thanks all, Ned P.S. The sending unit NAPA part# is TS6178 is this the right one? |

If your sensor isn't open (check w/ a multimeter), then it is clear you've got a bad connection - it begins working with the test light when you flex and move things. Try to connect the sensor and see if you get voltage actually to the sensor itself. Cold, the sensor should be 70-ish ohms, hot, 10-ish ohms. |

Might be a stupid question, but is the engine getting warm enough to give a guage reading? Do you have a t-stat installed? Try putting a thermometer in the radiator fill, and put a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator. Run the engine untill the thermoter reads about 180 and see if you have a temp reading on the gauge. |
