 Take a look at the oil sending unit in the pic. It has a small round brass contact on the end. The wire we labeled "oil sending unit", when Aaron and I took his engine out, two years ago, has a small flat blade-type female terminal. I wouldn't swear to it, but I seem to recall comparing the two units when I bought the new one and installed it. It would have caught my attention if they were different. Is there some other missing connector that the wire plugs into? Jerry |

IIRC, my sensor has a terminal resembling a nailhead, onto which the female connector slides sideways. Unsolicited suggestions for closeup pics with digital cameras from someone who does it every day: Does your camera have a macro focus mode? Many do, and it really helps for photo situations like that. When you take a photo, use a small light to give the camera enough illumination to focus, whether using flash or not. I've even taped a small flashlight onto the camera so I could hold it in an odd place to get a good shot in the dark. And hold the camera very still while it focuses and during the shot. Brace it if necessary, use one of those small tripod, or just push forward against the neck strap. Digital cameras will blur just like film cameras. Now if I could find a good place to host my car photos free ... lol |

It is somewhat of a "nailhead" looking contact. Guess I could just try to jam the wire terminal on there and see if it holds.  Unsolicited reply to unsolicited suggestions: Thanks. Unfortunately, my camera is a cheap $40 job from Sears with no macro function. And you are correct, you have to be absolutely still, especially in the low-light condition where we are working. Hey, your pic was certainly better than none! I have a cheapie cam at home, too. I'm glad I can borrow the nicer one from work! |

I borrowed ours from work for about 2 years. Sears finally had this simple and cheap camera on display, so I thought I would give it a try. It's OK, but lighting is very critical to the quality. Someday I will get a better one, maybe when I'm not spending my last dollar on Aaron's project. Wait, I'll be broke, then, and won't be able to afford a good camera.  Jerry |

Mine too... just as described, actually the female terminal of the cable gets loose very often and when hits a ground the stupid lite goes on and scares the s**t out of me, got to fix that.Quote: Now if I could find a good place to host my car photos free ... lol

Some of the later senders used a standard ¼" male blade terminal on them, with the corresponding ¼" female terminal on the car's oil light wire. That's not the same female terminal as is used with the "nailhead" male terminal on the earlier senders. If your terminal slides off too easily, give it a gentle squeeze with a pair of pliers. |

Well, Aaron crawled under the car and slid the flat blade wire terminal over the nail-looking oil sender contact. Hooked 'er right up. Craziest looking setup I've seen in a long time. Jerry |
