Hi everyone,

I'm seeing new kits out there that allow disc brake conversions without spindle swaps. However, they seem to be only for the 4.5" bolt pattern drums. I believe my 68 Dart has the 4" bolt pattern, 9" drums. Has anyone seen these conversions for the 4" pattern?

If not, how common are the A body discs, spindles, etc, in the junkyards?
Up here in the northeast they are all but gone, I think.

Thanks- Mac

Look at the reference to scarebird's adapters (www.scarebird.com) in this thread. http://www.slantsix.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11770

Both Stainless Steel Brakes and Wilwood kits have both 4" and 4.5" bolt patterns.

I have 5 sets of '73-76 A-body spindles. I believe M-body spindles
ought to also work.

Another reason to use these disk spindles is the ball joint is larger.
I personally have never seen a busted ball joint on a drum brake
spindle.

BTW, I've got the scarebird adapters for sale on this board. $65 + shipping new. They will work for your SBP (that' what I have as well). I bought them new for $85, but am going a different route. Contact me and I can tell you all about it!

The nice part about the scarebird kit is you use easily available parts. Wilwood and SSBC require special parts, that you can only get from them. Kinda sucks when you have to replace anything ;-)
