I have purchased about a week ago a 74 dart, with disc brakes. this weekend I plan to changed my drums into disc brakes, I am planning to change the whole unit from the 74 dart to the 67 dart. hopefully the upper ARM's and everything else will fit just fine. the 74 Dart has a master cylinder with booster. can I just put on the master cylinder without the booster on my 67 dart? I know the booster makes it easier for breaking. but eventually I will be putting on twin carburetors. ( from proline, I am still preying for your family) end the booster would just be in the way. this is my first time doing something like this. so if anyone has any suggestions or comments even helpful hints. just let me know. I live in the Los Angeles area so after I'm finished changing the brakes and putting in the rear in. after that I will be parting out the can if anyone interested. or by what's left. thank you all

That's a very popular upgrade that lots of people have done. Use the search option in this forum and you will get a lot of your questions answered. I have seen this covered before and I remember some discussion about removing the booster. Several other Mopar sites have articles covering this swap as well.

One thing you may consider is using the entire K frame from the '74 to replace the '67 design. The idler arm design on the '67 was a one year only rather weak design. It is all a direct bolt in swap.

THE 74 HAD A V8 MY 67 HAS A /6. WOULD THAT MAKE A difrince? IF I DID CHANGE THE K frame WOULD I HAVE TO TAKE OUT THE /6 TO DO IT? & WILL I NEED special TOOLS ? & IS THAT ALL I CAN swipe?

I know the V8 and \6 K-frames are different in '67-'72. Pretty sure the '73-'76 K-frames also are different, but not entirely sure.

Also, please do not make posts in ALL CAPS!

The K member will bolt right in to any 67-76 A body.

However, the V8 and /6 mounting are different. Sorry about that. Schumacker does make a /6 k member to V8 engine conversion mount, but not the other way around. My bad. It would be a hassle to do the swap. If it were a /6 car, I'd still say go for it. But not a V8 k member.

Apparently some folks feel that all caps is like cussing or something.

SO DON'T DO IT AGAIN! Or we'll be forced to whip you with a wet noodle!

Later,

Rob

I see you're new to the forum. It's great to have you here!

There is some really great information here. If you use the search option you can get a lot of questions answered.

Don't ever hesitate to ask questions, though. There are some really great guys and gals here that are always more than willing to help you out. Slant6Dan is one of them. He knows more about this Slant 6 stuff than a lot of people.

There are several other websites that have great tech articles on them as well when it comes to general Mopar stuff. There are two that I know of that are set up just for A bodies like your Dart. Big Block Dart.com and For A Bodies Only. Others like Moparts, Mopars.com, Mopar Action and Mopar Muscle (magazines), Mopar Webring,...

For Slant 6 specific stuff you are definitely in the right place!

Probably the best way to get familiar and involved with this Mopar stuff is to find a local Mopar Car Club or any local Car Club. You'll meet people, get ideas and really get involved. The internet is a great source of information, but there is nothing like real "hands-on" experience.

Have you introduced yourself to the board in the Social Corner section? I should have looked first I guess

It's good to have you here and welcome to the "Slanted Family" :D

Rob

So your '67 Dart is a convertible, right?

My first car was/is a '67 Dart GT with a 273. It's on the "back burner" right now. Actually it's been on there for many years now. Still simmering I guess.

Good luck with your Dart!

Rob
