Word of caution; If you opt for relocating the perches one the axle housing, be very judicious with the heat. I've known of a few guys that warped thier housing, (actually the tubes), with too much heat, too long, on one area. Apply wet rags on either side of where your going to cut/weld. Also, cut one side of a perch on one tube, then go to the other tube and cut one side. Allow things to cool between cuts, and do the same with the welding.

It might take a while to do the job, but it's better to err on the side of caution.

Maybe this goes without saying, but just in case:

you want to be moving the spring perch on the axle, not the shackle locations on the car. You can always toss out the axle and go back to original that way.
definitely! Thanks for saying anyway. I also thought from the standpoint of places to cut/reweld, the axle is a heck of a lot more metal than the 43 yr old underbody.

Any thoughts on places to start looking for spring perches? I started pulling up some sites from mopar muscle that do suspension but no luck yet.
