For some reason, we keep bending pushrods on our built slant six- it has a cam, headers, 4 bbl, with clifford manifold, electronic ignition, power steering, and an auto trans. once before, we bent 3 pushrods, and now the same thing is happening again-loss of power, no loose wires, or vacumn lines, plugs are in place, and so on. we are taking it back to the mechanic later today. any reason why this is happening???

:o :?  :x :( :?: :?:

What kind of "a cam" does it have? Did you check for valve spring coil binding? How about top-end oiling, did you check that?

not sure of the cam, it probably a clifford number. we didnt build the engine, bought it put together already. oiling up top doesnt seem to be the issue.

You may have more spring pressure than the pushrods can handle. Are you using a stock rod, or a good moly replacement? Check lifter bore clearances and the angles of the whole valve train.

Did you check your clearence between the top of your valve guide to the bottom of your retainer ? I had problems their and had to remove .200" from the top of the guide. Make sure you check it with your valve stem seal installed. Just something to think about.
