I think Offy (or perhaps Clifford) can set you up, or you can fabricate it.

I currently have a 1 barrel carb on my 62 Lancer GT. I bought a offy 4 barrel aluminum intake and edelbrock 500 carb for it. My question is what do I need to get for my throttle linkage to make this upgrade work? Does someone make a kit for it? |

I thought the ratio of carb barrels to power (as defined by horsepower) was logarithmic not linear.....dang this haynes manual.... Lancergt, Back to your original question, posting a little more information may help you get the answer you need.... like auto or manual tranny etc, brand of intake etc. The Edelbrock carb may be a bit much for a stock slant six (which is what i think D/W was subtly hinting at in his response). |

No no no. I have done extensive engine work(heads cam pistons...etc) and covered all the issues. I simply want to know how to hook up my edelbrock 500 carb from the old 1 barrel hookup that I have now. Just wondered if someplace made a kit for the conversion. I can fabricate one I`m sure if thats my only option. |

Why did you do all that unnecessary work? I thought you could just bolt up the 4-barrel and vroom, massive hp! D/W ...sorry for busting on you, who did not deserve it!   ...it was fun, though!

I just bolted my 4bbl carb and uses my original 1bbl guide in the new carb, and every thing works ok. |

Just buy the throttle linkage from lokar and the kickdown as well if you have an automatic trans...do a search and you can find the part numbers. I got mine from summit and I think it was like 150$ for both linkages but I can't remember exactly. |

You have the rod type linkage ,so you will have to fabricate. When I converted my 60 Valiant ,I used a swinging pedal from a 74 Duster and a Lokar cable and some hot rod engineering and came up with a well working setup. I have a manual trans so kickdown was not a factor but if you have an auto trans you will need the Lokar kickdown cable also. Hope this helps. HyperValiant |

Heres my bracket for my 4bbl Offy and 4bbl Eddy 500. Its a dog legged reinforced 3/16" piece of steel, with mountings for the guide bolt on the manifold and one of the ears on the carburetor. I also welded the throttle cable bracket to the assembly, made a hole in the bracket and the lokar slides right in. Works like a charm Pete

I believe that Offenhauser has the linkage to make your carb work with throttle shaft. That linkage will only allow the carb to be mounted with the carb's primaries mounted forward. I wanted to orient my carb so that the carb's primaries faced away from the engine so I had to make my own linkage from an old Chevy V8 throttle cable. I modified my throttle shaft and fabricated a lever for it to pull the throttle cable so I can use my original gas pedal and transmission kickdown linkage. It works pretty good but I think the Lokar cables would probably work a little bit better. |

So is the Lokar cable a easy bolt on thing? Will I need to fabricate anything?? I have an auto tranny (904) so I will need the kick down cable too. Do I still use my gas pedal or will I have to pirate one from another car? I really dont understand how they work. |

So I got the kickdown cable in place. Fairly easy. Mounted a bracket to the tranny to get the correct pull efect down there. I removed all the old rod type linkage and the gas pedal. I got a cable/pedal and bracket from a junk chevy impala. Hooks to the carb just fine but now I need to get through the firewall and mount the pedal in place with the new bracket to the floor. This is becoming difficult. I suppose I will have to cut and extend the gas pedal rod and shorten the rod that hooks to the cable. Problem is the positioning of the pedal. My question is, is there a pedal assembly that would go into place with out as much custom fabricating? Being able to still use the cable style assembly |

I don't know anything about the throttle cable that your using but here are two lokar part numbers that will solve you problem. I got these numbers from Summit. LOK-SRK-400 Bracket and spring...19.88 LOK-TC-1000U 24" Throttle cable (black)...27.95 Those part numbers are from summit and took me about 20 minutes or less to install on my car. They look great and are well worth the money. Just an option for you. |
