I can't find these refills anywhere. Can anyone help me locate a vendor. I've tried Anco, Trico, and others, even in Hemmings. Thirteen inchers won't fit. I need the stainless surrounded rubber or silicone refills to fit my stainless blades. Thanks.

The ones you need are Anco number 12-12. Practically nobody stocks them any more (scarcely anyone stocks 12-13s for '63-'66 A-bodies, either). A cooperative Anco stockist can order them for you by the case of 10 or 12 sets.

Dan, thanks for the expertise and willingness to share it. I have emailed several vendors who supposedly have Anco wiper refills. I should have a response by tomorrow, but I fear I won't have much response, if any. You don't know of a vendor I could try, do you? Thanks. I'll buy a dozen just to get two! Thanks again.

The problem with old-stock wiper refills is that they're...well, old! The rubber can sometimes be brought back if you scrub the dead surface layer off with a cloth soaked in alcohol.

It's still a current-production product. Just find a store that carries Anco, give them the part number and ask them to special order 'em, tell 'em you'll take a whole case.

With a little work you can cut down longer refills to fit if they are the same shape as the ones in the existing blades.

Down here we have a chain called "Big Lots" that often sells some univeral, triple-edge cut-to-length refills ("as seen on TV") for $1/pair. I stock up on them, and I've found that they last >1year and work as well as any other brand I've tried for that year.

Generally, I replace them every year before our required VA state annual inspection.

Bosch lifetime blades are the best that I have seen so far. I've had a set on my truck for 5 years now and they still don't chatter.

I agree with Dan on cutting down the oversized blades.

Havent tried Ancos yet but I know first hand Bosch makes a quality blade. I use them on my VW. Swipes clean, lasts for several years, and have holes cut in the spine to cut down on lifting. A very good blade.
I do this on my blades whenever they start to streak, but I use a product called "Rubber Renue" that I buy from electro.sonic. It's intended to restore the grip on rubber tires and platens used in electro-mechanical products like VCRs and copier machines. It isnt just repackaged alcohol; I have compared their performance and this stuff works faster and gives the rubber more tooth. You can also use it on window seals and exterior rubber parts to remove oxidation before hydrating with vegetable oil.

Boy, my experience with Bosch wiper blades (plain, lifetime, Micro-Edge, Micro-Edge Excel, etc.) has been uniformly awful. Short life, non-refillability, etc. Seems like every time I deviate from plain old Ancos, I wind up regretting it. Actually, that's not quite true, now I think about it: Trico has a blade now that has a Teflon strip on each side of the wiping edge, and those seem to last well even in polluted Toronto.

Rubber Renue sounds like a useful product. Where's Electro.Sonic?

I forget the street name, its right on the tip of my tongue but theyre at finch and the DVP area. They should be in the white pages. They supply electronics for industry, home appliance/electronics repair, but they do have a small display area with that stuff right on the shelf as of a year ago. I dont know the model of wiper I use, but I get them from Johns Bug Shop in Niagara. I love them. Look just like originals (probably cause they are...) Maybe cause Im cleaning them?

I always used the Anco 15" wiper blades. A nice improvement over the 12" blades.
