| Post subject: | Seat Options/Dying leather? |
I'm going to be pulling a set of leather seats from a Dynasty to try out in the Dart ($50.00 for fronts & rears with no rips at all!) Power everything, and they lok good, but they're blue... How hard would it be to dye them black, and not have them bleeding dye on clothes & such? Any tips appreciated! Mike |

You use leather dye, such as the stuff made by Fiebing's. |

Take my advice please, as I do this stuff for a living!!! Use only Leather dye, not vinyl dye. vinyl dye on leather will crack quickly, heres how it works. Leather dye will penetrate the leather for a better finish, as leather is a natural material and has some form of absorbansy[sp?].Vinyl dye is a laqure dye that only covers and will not penetrate leather, so it will eventually crack. Blue will cover nicely with black without having to bomb it. Clean the leather real good, and use several light coats for a better finish without all the runs and such. Good Luck |
