me and a buddie are doing a slant 6 build up but i have some ?? and need some help
whats the largest valves you can put in a /6 head???
we are going to try and get 11 or 12 to 1 compression
lots of port work, hyper pack intake ,header ,elec dist msd ign.
looking for rec. on cam lift and dur. poss nos later so forged pistons
does nayone make a roller rocker??? can you modify say a small block one to work???
oh its going in a 71 swinger
i have a 69 motor we are using for the build up
any help will be greatly appricated
this is a great site i have already learned alot about the hillside tower o power

Biggest valves depend on overbore. 1.72/1.50 is good for stock bore with slight bore notch below intake valve.

Cam depends on usage. Dedicated drag car? Converter stall? Car weight? RPM range desired? Need to answer those first.

strip car with a little street usage stall will be matched to the cam not shure on the weight its a stock 71 dart i want to keep the rpm reasonable
i want this thing to stay together a while

I have an old custom ground cam in my faster car. Engle makes a similar one at about 0.540" lift and 250 @ 0.050" duration. Check on web. Will need at least a 3000 stall (9.5 or 10" size) converter. Get the rotating assembly balanced and do not exceed 6000 RPM.

Roller rockers 1.5 or 1.6 ratio are available from Cox Bros Fabrication in Columbus, OH. Look in "Slanted network" section for their number/info.

like lou said the valve size depends on the overbore ,I learned that the hard way (valves hit the top 1/8th inch of the block). I had a 528 lift 284 duration cam in my 72 swinger, and it ran really strong and I also drove that car on the road quite often. you could go even bigger if it was for very minimal street use. with the 528 lift cam I would shift @ around 5800 (4 speed). With a 600 edlbrock 4brrl full bodied (3100 lb) dart it would run mid 15's on skinny 235 series street tires. that was with no engine tuning at all (just set the timing and went). Im sure with decent slicks and engine tuning it would have dropped 1-1.5 seconds. well keep us posted on the progress.

will do i will keep all posted on progress and any findings this site is a great resource i've learned tons in just a few days of reading/absorbing all the info
