O.K., head off took 80 thou off, 3 angle no bigger valves, clifford intake with a 2 barrel plate. I want the clifford headers for dual application but for whatever reason may not get them(any suggs). My question is the carb, with stock lower end would I be out of my mind for a 390cfm 4 barrel or would a 2 barrel 350 be sufficent. I really want 15 sec and I would be happy here in Ca. |

If the car is light enough you can hit 15's with little problem. I have run 16:20 in my '66 Valiant with a box stock long block. Offy intake, 390 Holley, MSD, Clifford headers, 300 stall converter, and 3.91 gears. Engine is an internally stock '80 Volare motor with 80,000 miles on it. Car weighs 3250 w/me in it. I shift at 4400, and it goes through the trap at 4400. |

Thanks for the encouragment, but I guess I have a long haul as 2.73 gears are a far haul from 3.91. I have had the car for just over a year and I have the bug so its been a blast I cant wait until shes running again, I got a 2 barrel holly(cant yet identify) that was free and was out of a chevy circle track car, I am machining an adapter so I can mount like the super 6 set up and still searching for the clifford headers which clifford keeps telling me their waiting for. Then a nice dual exhaust and some fine tuning and off to the track to see where its at. |
