The guy I just bought my Dart from just replaced the master cylinder and front slave cylinders like a week or two ago. I don't know if he did any bleeding at the front or not, but I know he didn't bleed the rears. I was going to bleed the rears but that plan was ruined by the bleeding screw breaking off in the right rear slave cylinder. The brakes work fine but you have to pump em a couple times, and it doesn't bleed down from what I've noticed.

What I'm probably going to do here in a few weeks is swap in a Ford 8" rear end with bigger brakes and upgrade the fronts to discs, and basically just rebuild/replace the whole brake system, lines etc. In the mean time the car will not be driven at all except for driving it up to my buddy's shop in Chattanooga and parking it. My buddy said that a master cylinder could go bad or seals could be blown out from driving it without proper bleeding. Is this true? Just checking because I don't want to screw up this brand new master cylinder.

I would be more worried about having air in the system and not being able to stop properly. If you have to slam on the brakes with air in the lines, you will not get the full effect of your brake system.

It stops just fine, just have to pump the pedal couple of times. It's surprisingly driveable like that, just have to be careful and leave plenty of room to stop.

You can get a partial bleed from cracking your brake line itself at the wheel cylinder. The low pedal could also be caused by maladjusted brake shoes, or a bad residual pressure valve.

Hi, If you have to 'pump' your breaks a few time, it sound like you're problem is with the manster clyinder. Kragens sells rebult ones for like $30
