I run an auto, but if you do a search on the site, there is quite a bit of info posted on clutches and transmisions.
Have you raced a slant at Wilkesborro Dragway? I have had my Cuda up there 3 times, and am planning on this year. Welcome to the site.

I'm running a low-end hyperpak type build in my feather duster with the stock 3spd+OD tranny...so far I've done lots of hard launches and I'm suprised the 9 1/4" clutch disk is still intact after a couple of years of abuse ... when it dies, I'll be putting in one of the 10" clutches....

good luck,

Post subject:  Hi Charrlie!

I have run a mostly stock '71 duster for fun at wilkesboro on Thursdays.
I seen your barracuda at the slant six shootout. It is a nice car, and runs well. It is red right?? I also have a '66 barracuda myself. Were currently
making a '76 feather duster for bracket car duty at the moment. I'll
be there this year probably running the '71 duster or something, Im a younger guy (23) so if you see a younger fella' tinkering under the hood
of the hood of a duster be sure and give me a shout! The feather duster
probably won't be done this year due to lack of funds ...but we all know
how that is. I look foward to seeing all you slant sixers at the track this year! Thanks for your' input DI and Charrlie!
P-S- DI- Im running the 3 speed over drive also....

I am running a 4 speed. Using all aftermarket stock replacement parts. If you do a search on "mcleod" you should find some aftermarket parts.

I run a 5 speed and launch at 5800 rpm. I had Ram supply a Mopar 340 steel flywheel with no holes drilled for the crankshaft. I than redrilled the flywheel for the slant 6 pattern. Their is only 1 bolt hole that is off set. I have used this combination for 5 years with no problems.

I have run 2 Different A-833's in my car - One had the 2.76 first Gear, and the other had a 3.09 Low gear.

I use a custom 10" kevlar clutch and stock 10" presssure plate with Stiffer Springs.

Upcoming plans include swapping the guts of an OD 833 into the small piliot Bearing Case.

I am running a McLeod slant six 10" set up. It has a diaphram PP and McLeod's flywheel. Here's a link.

Since then, I have installed a 3.73 Trac-Loc and have had no problems launching at 3000+ rpm and power shifting, etc.

My Sons Dart has a 4 Speed OD and 4:30 Rear. We went with a new McLeod flywheel and had dual patterns put on it. It has the original Slant Pattern and a new pattern for a diaphragm pressure plate. Do a search under "clutch update" and you should find some more details.
In my opinion, as one who has had a clutch explosion, I would never turn a stock pressure plate & flywheel to 6000RPM and power shift unless it was contained in a blow proof bellhousing. I know many have done it, including me, but the risk to serious bodily injury are pretty high if you have a failure. I think the total cost for Flywheel, pressure plate and disc were about $550. Not a bad deal if you like to keep both your feet?

Just get longer pedals. Much cheaper....
Sorry

Post subject:  Cheaper??

Think the manual tranny would be more of an expensive setup???
The 3000+ rpm 904 converters aren't too cheap themselves but
overall comparable cost??? Opinions please! Trying to figure out
how to get it streetable with 4.30 gears.....

Post subject:  4:30 Gears??

The 4:30 gears are only going to be truly steetable(My Opinion) if you have an Overdrive transmission. This puts the rear end ratio just below the 3.23 ratio that many of our cars came with originally. The only bolt-in OD. transmission set-up is for the manual transmission. Others are using adapters to get automatic overdrives behind the slant but everything cost $$$$. As you said converters aren'y cheap either.
