Hi Dennis: On Friday before the inliner/slant6 race at Redding it rained much of the day there at the track. I think the weather held off several potential racers from coming to Redding. We did have 12 cars show up the entire balance of the weekend was fantastic weather. Glenn Terry as well as Ray Hedstrom from the Inliner group were great setting up the class. They took a middle of the road time which I think was 13.90 and put 6 cars from 13.90 and faster in one bracket. 13.91 and slower in the second bracket. Mike Jeffrey had a great 11.93 time and he "arch enemy" from Washington State Dave Mueller ran a 11.83. It was the highlight of the event to see them paired off in one of the elimantion races. All day long, racers and spectators were coming over to see the large group of slant6/ inliners who had our own area in the pits. Ric/Doug/Bob set up with a large slant6 banner with information on the slant6 website and club. Glenn Terry was cutting fantastic lights and ended up edging out Doug in one of the finals. The track manager (Paul) reallly accomodated us with our own show venue and great pit area parking location. They want us back next year . Now that we have our first West Coast slant6/inliner race completed, lets think about doing it again and getting more cars to the track. The Inliner club has about 1500 membership and I think the slant6 about 500..I would think we could field a grouping of 16-20 cars next year if you "bench racers" would finish up your projects and show up sometime. We received many inquiries from racers who had cars in various stages of completion but none showed up. Same situation in Vegas. There were comments from those who saw our class at both races about building slant6 cars and others who have cars but for some reason, just don't show up. Maybe we can get comments through the web site from potential racers who have cars in the "building process" and give us a monthly "status report". There were two first time racers at 2004 Vegas who this year did not show up at either event. Maybe we can get them "back in the fold" for future races. I heard that Slantzilla might have a new car ready for Vegas next year...Any truth to this Dennis??? Later from Chico, Wayne/Aric

Thanks for the up-date Wayne,
Redding was a lot of fun, my son Allen and i had a great time racing and "Doing the town" with Kool April Nites in full swing.
Man,...it is soooo cool to drive around town and see all the nice old cars sitting at the stop light along side of you.

Here is a link to the photos I took at Redding, it's just a directory but I am so short of time I could hardly get these posted.
http://www.dutra.org/pictures/redding2005/

My Dacuda car did well for a car that I just managed to "pull together" right before leaving for the Vegas and Redding races. We put close to 2000 miles on the car, made about 25 nitrous assisted passes and managed to get to the final race at both events.

I did have to change the alturnator right after getting on the road to Vagas. It just went dead after a ferw miles on the freeway. I also had to change the fuel pump in Redding, after it started 'starving' for fuel during some Friday night 'street action', the local Auto Zone had a new pump on the shelf for $19.00. All said, not bad for a car that has been sitting as a project car for about 3 years...you gotta love these Slants.

Thanks for the news guys! :D

I also talked to Mike. Sounds like he did pretty well too. Too bad they wouldn't let him have the record because of the scale issue.

What scale issue? Are the classes run by weight in addition to the 13.90 index mentioned? Sorry for the newbie kinda question, but I are one.

Rob, Mike said they would not believe his car weighed over the minimum of 2500. It weighs around 2700 w/him, but there was no scale there so they would not let him have his record.

My Duster has been "under construction" for a couple years now. Possum will know it when I clean his Jawjuh clock.

Hey Dave,
I'm sure he meant it in the most sporting of ways! Something more like, "Most Respected Adversary" or "Fiercest Competitor" or "Arch Rival" perhaps?

Kinda like how 'zilla and Ron Parker go at each other all the time. It's all in good fun.

You have the Valiant Wagon, right? Schweeet Car!

Oh yeah, I remember you mentioning a Duster project awhile back 'zilla. It's gonna be a race only deal, right?

Hey Dave,

I like that plan. It works. I haven't done enough racing yet to develop a race plan, but yours definitely has merit. I'll have to try that when I get back to the states and get back into racing.

Your car looks fast just sitting there. Our beat up GodsRods Duster is in a little different class I'm afraid.

I just got an email from one of the GodsRods kids. He is going to take the Duster to the Landmark Dodge show in Atlanta in about a week and put it on the chassis dyno. I hope it goes well. He wanted to enter it in the "Ugliest Car Category", but the car has to be registered. It definitely coulda been a contendah!

Hey Ron, do me a favor and have a brewsky for me at one of the races. We only have near beer over here and I just won't go there. Besides, they don't have any Miller Genuine Draft. Mmmm, Mmmm, good.
