I am new to the board here and need a little help. A friend recently purchased a 67 Dart and wants to get it painted the original color. Where do we need to look to find the paint code? There is a tag on the driver's side inner fender well with several codes on it. Under the letters "PNT" on the tag is "DE2", is this the paint code and if so, what color does this denote?

http://www.mymopar.com/paintcodes.htm contains all the 1967 paint codes. DE2 is an unusual code to find on a '67 Dart; it would tend to indicate a light blue/dark blue 2-tone, and I'm fairly certain 2-tone wasn't available on the '67 Dart. Once you figure out what colour the car actually is (or was from the factory), you can use http://www.dodgecharger.org/html/paint_codes.html to find the actual paint mix code. These are all old-tech paints, but you can take the codes to an auto body paint supply place and they can use the old code to mix the correct colour in a new-tech paint.

The car originally had a vinyl covered top that I suspect was light blue and the body was definitely dark blue, this color combination would match the interior exactly.

Thanks Dan. The "Guest" post was me, I forgot to login. Was I correct about the fender well tag and the DE2 being the paint code?

Wow, a *blue* vinyl top on a '67 Dart? Wasn't aware that was an option. There are people much better versed than I in decoding fender tags, and the '62-'68 tags are harder to decode (and contain less information) than the '69-up tags. But yeah, if the car's blue, I think we have a pretty good likelihood that DE2 is your paint code. If you take a look at the links, you see that DD1 is one shade of blue, and EE1 is another shade of blue. The format of those codes is for single-colour paint jobs (D lower, D upper, 1 colour), and I am *fairly* certain that 2-tones were indicated by two different letters and a 2 (as in DE2). Apply the common sense test: Download the paint chip charts (or view them directly -- many of the larger body/paint supply houses actually have the paper charts going back decades) and check in an out-of-the-way place on the car (such as under the fender tag!) and see if what the sheet says matches what your eye sees.
