Hello everyone new guy here - I have a cabin cruiser (boat) that was given to me - boat needs total revamping - boat is powered by a slant six. Does any one happen to know what manufactures used slant sixes in their boats? Please e-mail me at gary@allsignsystems.com |

  That is abou all I know about marine engine slants. Besides the different exterior bolt ons(manifolds, alternator, distributor, alternator, oil pan and pick-up) I believe the long block is identical. As far as who put them in what boats, I'm clueless. Good luck with your project and keep us posted! Pictures would definitely be appreciated! |

Hahaha, holy crap! Look at that horizontal marine engine! What book is that out of? I was wondering what they marketed the marine slant as, I was hoping for "Powerbee 225" or something equally cool, "supercrown" is kind of a disappointment. Won't be putting that on my licenseplate.

Reed, thanks for posting that. I've been wanting to see the horizontal version of that engine for a couple of years. In that configuration, it reminds me of the early '60s Indy roadsters, with their Offy engines positioned almost horizontally in the frame, making the cg and handling much improved over vertical engines. The skeleton view shows how nicely a turbocharger would fit underneath the crankcase... If anybody has a copy of the S.A.E. paper on this engine adaptation, I'd sure love to see it. S.A.E. doesn't go back that far in its publications. |

Those scans come from an issue of the late great Slant Six News. Back in theearly 90s there was a three issue piece about the history of the slant six engine. These are from part three of that series. Goes to show what a great publication it was. |

I wonder how the lifters got lubed without gravity pulling the upper valve train oil down on them? |
